About the Red Cottage...

    LONG before we took over the RED COTTAGE, it had been a garage, a boat-building shop, a seasonal restaurant, and a variety store.  When we moved in (1981), business was a combination counter service and small grocery store, still selling penny candy.  The family dining room table was immediately moved into the "STORE".

    THINGS changed, however.  Gradually groceries were phased out, more tables appeared, and soon we grew to a 49-seat restaurant.  Our two oldest sons moved on, but our youngest, Dan (a culinary school graduate) is now our cook.  The coffee mugs that belong to our regular customers (year-round and many summer people) grew from 7 to over 200!  The small menu board was replaced with a full breakfast and lunch menu.

    BUT some things never change.  Many times we thought of "fancying-up" the place, but our customers insisted that what they loved was the old-fashioned comfort of the diner atmosphere.  And our food is still cooked to order - just like home.

    WE love the warmth and friendliness of Cape Cod, and we think of you, our customers, as our  "extended family", and hope you feel the same about us.
